MI Local Hops Wins the Michigan Chinook Cup!
First Year Chinook hops grown by MI Local Hops, have won the 1st Annual Chinook Cup! The competition to find Michigan’s Best Chinook Hop Growers was presented for the first time by the Hop Growers of Michigan. The great growers of Empire Hops Farm owned by the Wiesen Family in Empire, Michigan won 2nd Place. Top Hop Farms owned by the Trowbridge family in Goodrich, Michigan won 3rd place.
The competition was judged by John Mallet – Director of Operations for Bell’s Brewery, Alec Mull – Director of Brewing Operations for Founders Brewing Company, John Stewart – Head Brewer for Perrin Brewing Company, Diane Gooding – Vice President of Operations for Gooding Farms, Jeremy Kosmicki – Head Brewer of Founders Brewing Company.
The announcement took place at the Hop Growers of Michigan quarterly board and member meeting which was held on Saturday, January 13th at Lansing Brewing Company, in Lansing, Michigan. This was the Hop Growers of Michigan’s first meeting in 2018.
